Beyond convenience, the accreditation proves that Oscar’s virtual care model meets the highest standards for clinical quality, data security, and patient safety.
The COVID-19 pandemic was a global inflection point for healthcare, forcing providers to quickly rethink how and where care is delivered. Years later, the emergency has subsided, but the demand for high-quality virtual care has only intensified.
As part of our commitment to meeting this demand, Oscar Medical Group (OMG) recently earned NCQA Accreditation in the Virtual Care Delivery Program for both primary care and urgent care, a recognition of our commitment to high-quality primary and urgent care delivery. This recognition is widely considered the “gold seal” for medical quality in a digital setting, reflecting a deep commitment to care coordination, data privacy, and health equity.
To explore the significance of this milestone, we spoke to Jamie Wiseman, Senior Medical Director at Oscar Medical Group. Our conversation focused on our partnership with the NCQA, the increasingly critical role of virtual care, and, most importantly, what this all means for Oscar members. Our interview has been edited for length and clarity.
First, let’s talk about virtual care overall. Why is virtual care so important to Oscar and what does it unlock for members?
Jamie Wiseman: Virtual care is all about meeting our members where they are. It's not just meant to be a convenience; it's about making healthcare easy, accessible, and affordable. We remove the barriers for travel time. We remove the barriers for cost. And we make it just extremely simple for people to actually get the care they need when they need it.
