Meet Oscar Health’s 2025 Culturally Competent Care grantees

Oscar Health’s mission is to make a healthier life accessible and affordable for all. We solve significant gaps in healthcare access by addressing the social and cultural factors affecting individual health. We combine technology with empathy and integrate a culturally competent care approach that respects many values and beliefs.
This commitment to cultural competency is embedded in our products and the way we operate, making healthcare affordable, accessible, and engaging for more Americans. As a direct extension of this work, our Culturally Competent Care (CCC) Grant Program supports organizations that are increasing access to care in underserved communities. For our 2025 grants, we chose to focus on two areas where significant healthcare disparities persist: care for Spanish speakers and health for women over 45.
The U.S. healthcare system often fails to accommodate non-English speakers. A Pew Research study (opens in new tab) shows 44% of Hispanic adults are less likely to seek care due to language barriers, a leading reason they experience worse health outcomes than White adults. At the same time, research shows that midlife is a vulnerable period for women's health, with an increased risk for new conditions and symptoms. However, relatively few women's health solutions focus on menopause or other age-related conditions.
After reviewing applications from many incredible organizations, we selected our 2025 grantees. The winners of the 2025 CCC Grant, Light of the World Clinic, Inc. and The Center for Pan Asian Community Services (CPACS) Cosmo Health Center, are organizations we believe are uniquely positioned to address systemic barriers in our healthcare system. Both stood out for their deep focus on the critical intersection of our focus areas.
Light of the World Clinic, Inc. is a volunteer-based medical clinic in Broward County, FL, providing free holistic healthcare to underserved and uninsured communities of color. With this year’s funding, the clinic will launch a one-year initiative, Empoderando la Salud, to serve 175 underserved Hispanic women with free, bilingual, and culturally tailored preventive health services, including screenings for breast and cervical cancer, diabetes, and hypertension.
“This grant will enable us to provide comprehensive screenings and deliver personalized disease management and education—equipping women with the tools they need to manage their health and navigate the healthcare system confidently and safely,” said Sandra Lozano Barry, President and CEO, Light of the World Clinic, Inc.
The CPACS Cosmo Health Center
The CPACS Cosmo Health Center is a non-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Gwinnett County, Georgia dedicated to providing primary care services to the local community. With this year’s funding, the CPACS Cosmo Health Center will enhance its existing Breast and Cervical Cancer Program by expanding access to culturally and linguistically appropriate cancer services for uninsured and underinsured women over 45, with a specific focus on the growing Spanish-speaking immigrant and refugee communities.
“Beyond the immediate outcomes—more women screened, supported, and educated—this initiative will lay the groundwork for a preventive care culture rooted in trust and inclusivity," said Lamiya Hussain, Health Program Specialist, CPACS Cosmo Health Center.
Since its founding in 2021, our CCC grant program has impacted the lives of thousands of people across the US. Our grantees have created educational programs, expanded access to insurance, and connected individuals with healthcare providers and services. We’re excited to continue this program with two trailblazing organizations who are removing barriers to healthcare.
