Did you know over 50% of small businesses automatically renew with their health insurance carrier? Not too surprising given that no small business wants to transition their employees over to a brand new insurance carrier unless there is a significant improvement in cost, care, or quality. But sometimes, a small business is not able to renew. Such is the case for New York small businesses who have to transition from CareConnect after the carrier announced all of its small business plans will end in November 2018 (opens in new tab).
Finding a CareConnect alternative for New York businesses doesn’t have to be difficult. Start by taking these steps:
- Reconsider plan features that are important to you and your employees. It’s been at least a year since you last thought about premiums, deductibles, network, and out of pocket maximums. A lot can change in a year so as you are looking to transition from CareConenct, think about which features are important to your business. If you need a refresher on the basics, we’ve got you covered (opens in new tab).
- If you are working with a broker, ask them what carriers and plans they recommend as it’s likely they have a few other customers who are transitioning from CareConnect. Brokers are very in tune with the New York market and can help you understand your options given your unique circumstances.
