We founded Oscar with the belief that the healthcare system in America needed to shift towards a more consumerized, digital, and value-driven system to provide higher quality and more personalized care. Over the past ten years we’ve seen these trends take root, and Oscar has grown from a three-person startup to a public company with $6.8B in revenue, serving more than a million members across the US.
By investing early in areas that others did not — technology and member engagement — we built a differentiated company that is in a position today to truly refactor the infrastructure upon which healthcare is built. Everything we do is aimed at making good care cost less.
The millions of members we serve today trust Oscar to advise them on how and where to get care, and we don’t take that trust for granted. Our NPS is at an all-time high at 47. And, we are always asking ourselves how can we do more to bring affordable care to even more people?
We’ve been fortunate over the past 18 months to spend time with one of the industry’s greatest leaders, Mark Bertolini, who’s served as a strategic advisor to us at Oscar. He has been a passionate advocate for quality care for decades, a bold thinker in the industry, and a proven leader of innovative companies at scale. The more time we spent with Mark, the more we realized that we want him on our team - full time. When thinking about who could step into the role alongside Mario that brings deep leadership in scaling businesses and healthcare expertise to Oscar, there is no single person better suited than Mark Bertolini.
And so today, we are thrilled to welcome Mark to Oscar as our new CEO. Mark believes in Oscar’s mission and the journey we’ve been on the past ten years. He brings deep experience as a healthcare executive, and a proven track record of creating meaningful value for shareholders, employees, and members, as well as a history of crafting strategies that fundamentally change how healthcare works in the US. Mario is stepping into the role as President of Technology. Combined with Oscar’s genetics as a disruptor, Mario’s vision for the tech roadmap, and our scale, we believe we have the best team in place to unbundle what an insurer does, and redefine how healthcare is both experienced and delivered at an even greater scale.
